They came to dance. They stayed to survive.

A hilarious parody of the dance movie genre, Dance Flick follows the story of Thomas Uncles, a street dancer from the wrong side of the tracks who falls for Megan White, a classically trained dancer with a troubled past. Together they navigate love, rivalries and an absurd dance competition — all while the Wayans family throws every genre convention under the bus in the most gloriously unhinged way possible.

Critic Reviews
🗞️ Rolling Stone
"The Wayans family returns to their Scary Movie roots with gleeful, chaotic energy. Dance Flick is dumb, crude and frequently hilarious — exactly what it sets out to be."
🗞️ Entertainment Weekly
"A loving, merciless takedown of every dance movie cliché ever committed to film. Save the Last Dance, Step Up and Stomp the Yard all take hits and none of them escape unscathed."
🗞️ Hollywood Reporter
"Uneven but frequently inspired. The Wayans clan has an instinctive feel for physical comedy and several gags land with genuine comic precision."
User Reviews
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Criminally underrated comedy" by FilmFanatic_Nairobi — 2009
I have not laughed this hard at a parody since the original Scary Movie. The Wayans family just gets comedy in a way nobody else does. An absolute blast from start to finish.
⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Stupid funny in the best way" by CasualViewer_KE — 2010
Turn your brain off and enjoy the ride. Dance Flick is ridiculous, irreverent and genuinely hilarious if you've ever sat through a dance movie cliché. Perfect Friday night film.
⭐⭐⭐ "Hit and miss but mostly hit" by CriticalEye404 — 2009
Some gags fall flat but when Dance Flick lands its punches they hurt from laughing. Damon Wayans Jr. is a revelation — the kid has his father's comic timing dialled up to eleven.
⭐⭐ "Not for everyone" by MainstreamViewer — 2009
If lowbrow comedy is not your thing this will test your patience. But fans of the Wayans style will find plenty to enjoy here.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "The perfect parody" by MidnightMovieBuff_NBI — 2011
Every dance movie trope gets absolutely destroyed in the funniest possible way. The ending alone is worth the entire runtime. A forgotten gem of 2000s comedy cinema.

Critic Consensus
Dance Flick is the Wayans family at their most gloriously unhinged — a rapid-fire parody that dismantles every dance movie cliché with joyful, irreverent precision. It is crude, chaotic and frequently brilliant. Damon Wayans Jr. announces himself as a major comic talent and the ensemble crackles with infectious energy. Switch your brain off, lace up your dancing shoes and surrender to the chaos.
